Music Makes a Difference

"Your voices still make a difference. "

Music is a word that you can’t clear cut define. It means many different things to many different people of all walks of life. We as an LGBT community are incredibly lucky to have many talented members- a few in which were mentioned this past week by Billboard – what an achievement!

Billboard released an article entitled ” 11 Transgender & Non Binary Musicians You Need to Know” and many are good friends of FTM Magazine.

  • Number three on the list is Skylar Kergil. Kergil was the cover of our first YouTube Issue, and since then has made many waves between his music, his art, and his NEW memoir Before I Had The Words. Billboard highlighted lyrics from his hit “Tell Me A Story”.
  • Number five is our hunky Winter 2016 cover model Laith Ashley. Ashley made headlines years ago as one of the first trans male models to appear in a national campaign and recently as we had written on released his first single “Can’t Wait”.
  • Number eight on the list is Ryan Cassatta. Cassatta was featured on our CD we released a few years back, and he just released an awesome new album “Virginia, Pick Up The Phone”. Billboard though, highlighted his song
” We are the Cool Kids” describing it as a “tune to listen to when all else feels hopeless.”

Over all, we are proud of all 11 individuals who made the list and all of those whom play in private, or haven’t made the list. Your voices still make a difference. You should all feel honored for all you do for the music world and the community – our hats off to you!
